La Universidad Nacional de San Martín, después de un proceso marcado por sendas denuncias durante el periodo 2009 al 2014, por presuntos actos de corrupción, logró a modo de grado fuerza retirar a una gestión donde estuvo impregnada la corrupción y considerada la más nefasta.
Con la toma de posición del rectorado del Dr. Aníbal Quinteros García, para el periodo 2014 – 2019, se dijo se iniciaba una nueva era en la administración universitaria. Sin embargo, nada habría cambiado, denuncias tras denuncias por presuntos actos de corrupción continuaron siendo continuos en nuestra primera Casa Superior de Estudios.
Hoy luego de un periodo, inusual el Dr. Quinteros García, deja la rectoría de la UNSM. Tras las elecciones del pasado 23 y 24 de octubre 2019, para dar la palestra al Dr. Aquilino Mesías García Bustamante, como flamante nuevo rector, junto a las doctoras, Rossana Hidalgo Pozzi, y Alicia Bartra Reátegui, como vicerrectora académica y de investigación respectivamente.
